Time on the Patio
Another weekend is nearly upon us, but M and I had a pretty good weekend last weekend. The weather has been sunny and cool (highs in the upper 70s), so after work last Friday, M and I decided some cocktails on the patio was a great idea. Naturally, I took a sock out on the patio to knit while sipping my mojito.
Since I was just starting the cuff, I was able to knit and drink. M calls this next shot, my “I’m annoyed you’re still taking photos, but I’m pretending I’m not” pose.
One of our neighbors came visiting:
She hasn’t told us her name, unless she’s named Meow, but she is very well-fed, and she was much more interested in our hummingbird feeder and the dining hummingbirds than of us. They were much too high and fast for her.
Sunday we went to the Farmers’ Market in Sacramento and bought some goodies to eat for another afternoon on the patio (but this time with wine). I took this photo of our little feast:
organic cheeses, plums, Rainer cherries, medjool dates and a Beaujolais
M wanted me to take a second photo to post on his Facebook page. Can you see the difference?
He didn’t want my sock knitting in his Facebook photo! My handknit sock was not worthy for his Facebook page. The indignity! I thought it added to the still life composition myself. 🙂
Now we have to see what this weekend brings. Hope you have a great one!
So, WHY didn’t he want the sock in his Facebook picture??
Your patio looks like a wonderful place to hang out!
I’m trying to picture what May would do if she saw hummingbirds. Probably burst with excitement.
I think as punishment the next three pairs of socks need to be for you! No socks on his facebook page.
The nerve! Your sock added so much to the vignette!
🙂
Very nice neighbor….I especially like those named “Meow.”
(((Hugs)))
Hi Brenda, thanks for de-lurking in my blog! Hopefully I can lure you out more often by keeping up with yours as well? 😉
I think you should post the pic with the sock on your FB page, then tag him in it so it shows up in his profile and on his wall anyway. Hehehehehehe. *evil laugh*
No sock! How insulting! 😉 Actually, he was probably worried someone would think he knits and try to ask him a question about it.
It’s just starting to warm up here in SoCal, which is odd for this time of year, but we’ve also been enjoying our patio and the farmer’s market goodies. The difference is that our photo would include a small child grabbing all the fruit before we can get any. RJ thinks the farmer’s market is her own personal buffet. 🙂
What a lovely setting! Looks like a peaceful, relaxing place to knit and unwind. (And even if the sock wasn’t IN the photo, we know it was THERE!) Have a great weekend. 🙂
No sock? How insulting!! He should be shunned in favor of your neighbor. 🙂 Who looks quite intent, btw.
The table does look pretty scrumptious.
Your neighbor looks quite pleasant …
You are so lucky – it’s been raining so much here, a couple of my herb plants have drowned, and any minute I expect to see a school of fish go past the third-floor window!
Was the sock for Mr. Facebook? If so, I imagine it will take you an *awfully* long time to finish it. 😉
I’m jealous of all your patio time! We have no patio, and have had no sun for weeks. What a sweet visitor you had! And I didn’t notice the difference in the photos…. I guess I’m just too used to seeing knitting hanging around at my place.
Brenda- How insulting- he should be honored to have a sock in progress on his page.
I love your kitty friend.
Your kitty friend looks like a female version of my Atticus!
Now that’s a spread I can appreciate! Although it doesn’t really go with it all, I’d be reaching for another mojito along with it.
What a great spread of food! It’s going to be hard getting through the summer without a mojito, or a gin & tonic, or… well, I’d better stop now. 🙂
Perfect moment – knitting on the patio with refreshments!
I love your patio! I wish we could spend more time on ours but with all this rain the best we can do is the porch. ;o)
No knitting on his FB? The indignity!
That’s a great picture of you, Brenda. Your patio is so nice and perfect for al fresco dining, which we seem to be doing a lot of this summer. I must go out to buy some cheese and wine now! Take care.
